A-1046-6014-04: The Renishaw factory table identifies the base number A-1046-6014 as a PH6 probe head with an MS1/T shank and PL2 coiled cable with a 5-pin DIN connector. This is a probe head assembly for coordinate measuring machines (CMM); the head accepts an M8 threaded stylus.

The Renishaw PH6 head is used on coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for dimensional and geometric inspection of workpieces. The fixed head holds and connects the actual touch probe; the machine records contact points based on the signal from the probe. The PH6 head shown in the photo is not the probe itself: it performs measurements in conjunction with the connected stylus and the measuring machine.
